What an Amazing 2018 Season
New Field and New Faces
The Boys in Red had a great season and so did the Red Aces!
Lane United FC moved fields which meant that the Red Aces got to move as well. Instead of being behind the goal, this year we were to the side of the goal on a taller set of bleachers. This provided a much better view of the field and allowed us to be closer to the amenities.
As well as a new field this season, we added lots of new faces to our ranks. The new folks were a great addition to the Red Aces section.
We hope to continue our growth until we can fill the South End to the brim!
Tifos and Two-Sticks Galore
The Red Aces Tifo Crew topped themselves with three hoisted tifos this year. The designs just keep getting bigger and better! Our work got a lot of love from the LUFC home crowd this year and we also got compliments from rival coaches!
We’d like to give a big thanks to everyone that helped design, paint, and hoist the tifos. It’s a ton of work, but a labor of love. Our love for the Reds runs deep!
There are also some awesome new two-stick in the rotation! The Two-Stick Workshop hosted at Level Up was a ton of fun and we hope to do it again in the future.
Red Aces on the Road
The Red Aces covered a lot of miles this season to support the Boys in Red.
For the season opener on May 14th, we made a trip to Burnaby, Canada to tailgate with the Swangardians (TSS FC Rovers Supporters) and watch as the LUFC Boys took three points off the TSS FC Rovers in an exciting 4-1 win. We made a ton of new friends that day and encouraged their fans to travel and see us in Springfield later in the year.
Our second trip was a caravan over the mountains to watch LUFC take on Portland Timbers U23 in Bend, OR. Even though this was technically a “home” game for the Timbers, the Red Aces owned the stadium and cheered the Boys on to a thrilling 3-3 draw where the Reds got the equalizer deep into stoppage time. We want to give a shout out to Bunk & Brew for hosting the Red Aces and shuttling us to and from the match! These guys are awesome.
The third and final trip of the year was up to Victoria. The trip was amazing and the Red Aces got some party time with the Victoria Highlanders FC Supporters, the Lake Side Buoys! The best part however was LUFC winning 4-0 in a match that the Reds dominated start to finish. Red smoke filled the air that day and the Boys celebrated with the Red Aces after every goal!
Year End BBQ
The Red Aces once again hosted a BBQ to mark the end of the regular season. Tons of fun and food was had all around. We even welcomed some Canadians to the party, but the Reds spoiled their visit with a thrilling 2-1 victory to close out the home regular season.
